I spent several years when my family were young living in different parts of the world. During this time I began writing, blogging and doing research into children’s learning. I also spent time working as a doula work and did research into various aspects of midwifery and birth. I have several published pieces of work on both birth and education as well as my master’s dissertation from Trinity Laban Conservatoire that looked at why students made the decision not to take GCSE music.
I am enrolled in the Doctoral Research Programme at Birmingham City University where my thesis will be looking into what the hidden barriers are to instrumental and vocal learning with young people aged 13 - 18.
